The Prophecy

Tannu sat in front of the large oval mirror in her bedroom carassing her long Auburn tresses. She just finished applying the hair serum given by the hair stylist. As she looked at herself she started wondering, "Should I curl it up or straighten it?" Confused about her hair, Tannu took out the purplish pink orchid flower from one of the boxes in her drawer, she opened the hairclip and then partitioned her hair and put it just behind her right earlobes. She was happy, she looked ravishingly beautiful. The lilac colour gown was enhancing her beauty. She quickly started giving last minute touches to her make-up, no she didn't need professional help as she mastered the trade herself.

Make-up and hair styling over Tannu switched on the AC and sat comfortably on the recliner. "Gosh! I am so nervous already" she said. "I just wonder how Saurav must be looking." she muttered with a wink in her eye.

Quickly Tannu took the phone lying on the bed and started scanning WhatsApp if Saurav sent her any messages, voice or video recordings. After all it was her big day. She was getting engaged to her long time beau Saurav after being together for over twelve years.

Tannu started recollecting the days when both of them were just about to complete school, Saurav proposed her just two days before the farewell. She liked Saurav for his nature and physic but was naive enough to give the nod. Sourav pursued her for two long years when she finally accepted the proposal. Both of them has seen the best and worst of times in each other's lives, to supporting each other emotionally, backpacking, travelling, fighting they remained for each other through thick and thin. Now, it was time to formally legalise the relationship, ofcourse after convincing both the families that they are indeed made for each other.

Tannu looked at the photo of Saurav, she had framed it and kept it on her study table just beside the window along with the pots of money plants. Her room was an epitome of bliss. The two windchimes were moving and the tinkling sound of bells were making a perfect romantic ambience. The dreamcatchers she placed were also swaying as if to the tunes of the bells.

The bells were infact sounding so sweet to her ears and was building up the momentum. She was excited, infact super excited. Over the next hour or so she would be engaged and then they would formally sign the court marriage papers and be legally man and wife. The Vedic wedding however would be after fifteen days.

As Tannu sat looking at her watch she decided, "Let me call him up." "It's almost eleven in the morning." She started calling him one, two, three. No, Saurav wasn't receiving her call. The floral white curtains just brushed against her face.

All of a sudden the beautiful day started appearing grey. Tannu looked outside her window to her garden below "Oh No, it's going to rain heavily!" The months of planning for her engagement would be ruined. The white and light pink open-air set-up would be ruined. The white orchids and roses which adorned the stands and vases would be spoiled. She panicked and called up the decorators, "Hello, bhaiya could you please do something?" "The venue would be ruined completely." "No, madam, it's too late now. Moreover my workers are not here."

Suddenly, a wind gust rushed in from the open window and most of the things placed on the table landed on the floor. Tannu, rushed to get hold of Saurav's photo frame but it was too late, it fell down and the glass broke into multiple pieces. Tannu felt an aching pain on her head. "What was happening? Why such bad omen?" No, she was not superstitious; but she somehow was frightened today.

She picked up the phone and dialled Saurav's number once again. "Hello!" Yes, Tannu di, "There is a bad news!" "Saurav bhaiya fell down on the washroom and is unconscious for over two hours now. We have rushed him to the GNRC Hospital." "All tests are almost done doctor's are suspecting brain haemorrhage."

Tannu became hysterical, she started wailing. "No, it can't be true." She screamed, "It just can't be true." After all the prophecy was coming true!!
