GLOW NATURALLY THIS WINTER

Winter is that one season which we all look forward to enjoy the coziness and warmth of our homes, couches and beds. The time when mornings are spent watching the dew drops on the leaves sipping hot mugs of tea or coffee, basking our backs in the mild sun, reading a book of our interest, the winter breaks, the picnics, the events, festivities in the air with Christmas and New Year ushering in happiness and charm of a new beginning.

Come Winter the one concern that most of us have at the back of our minds is to look beautiful, glow and be healthy. However, there is a dampener of sorts to our Yuletide spirits as we have to deal with dry, rough skin.

No worries, here are a few tried and tested tips which would ensure that you get that supple, fresh skin you always vied for. So let's get started.

Pull the OIL

Oil pulling is a tried and tested method recommended by Ayurveda for keeping our oral hygiene healthy and flushing out toxins from our body. You can oil pull thrice a week every alternate day. For that you need to take about two teaspoons of coconut oil or olive oil and keep on swishing it inside your mouth for at least 7-10 minutes. Ensure that you don't gulp down even a drop of the oil. Spit it out. Brush your teeth immediately after the process.

Water-water and more water

Start your mornings by drinking minimum two-three glasses of lukewarm water. You can add a spoonful of honey and a few drops of lemon juice to it. Alternately you can also add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to the water. Water helps in flushing out the toxins from your system so drink as much lukewarm water you want and get the natural glow.

Time for Tea

The wonder drink tea obviously finds its place in the winter skin-care routine. Enjoy a cup of black or green tea and keep the tea-bags for later use. Tea would increase your metabolism and help in fighting cough and cold, reduces heart diseases and minimize diabetes. You can spice up your tea with some ginger pieces, crushed clove and black pepper. If you are non-diabetic add a spoon of honey to it.

Eat greens, salads, fruits and juices

The first step towards being the proud owner of beautiful skin is eating healthy. As the market is flooded with veggies and fruits during the winter months, spice up your skin by increasing your intake of green vegetables, colorful salads, lots of orange and vegetable juices. Ensure that you take these in abundance.

Oil and Scrub

As you prepare to take a bath; mix half a teaspoon of turmeric, half a teaspoon of gram flour, few drops of honey, a pinch of camphor, few drops of tomato or orange juice and give yourself a good scrub. Alternately give yourself a coconut or olive oil massage from head to toe, coconut is the natural skin softener and the best solution to your dry skin and cracked feet.

Bathing Time

Add a few drops of lavender oil or coconut oil to the lukewarm water that you would be using to bath. Try avoiding soap and use a natural scrubber or loofah to remove the dead skin. Gently rub the skin.

Moisturizing your body

The best natural moisturizer for any skin type is honey. Add a few drops of honey, raw milk and a pinch of camphor. Apply to your skin and wash with plain water when it dries off. You don't need any other form of moisturizer.

Cleanse the Junk

Since winter calls for a number of weddings, parties and events. You surely don't need to resist yourself from the tempting food or be on a diet for good skin. After each oily and heavy meal, drink a glass of lemon water or pineapple juice. It would naturally cleanse your system.

Turmeric milk

Since the winter months are cold, instead of taking a peg of the hard drinks, drink a glass of turmeric milk before sleeping. As your body warms up, your immunity would be boosted as well. So, three cheers for turmeric milk.

I hope this winter you get the much desired glow naturally!! Happy Winter😊
