Indifference!!

You worship her!! You address her as MOTHER!! She is Divinity for you!! She is a MOTHER She bore YOU!! You grew in her womb Her blood mingled in yours. Why do you despise her then?? When she bleeds... Is it wrong to bleed?? Why are you so indifferent? Do you know how it feels to bleed? Why is she not allowed to worship? To mingle, to touch? Is it wrong to bleed? Isn't it blood after all? The blood which bore you .. The blood which nurtured you.. How can one blood be pious? And other irreligious? You cheer the birth of a child The same blood you shun... When she bleeds monthly. Isn't it the same blood? That bore YOU!!

Thought

PAIN what PLEASURE do you get haunting me? Why do you appear before me in some form or other? Why do you crush me beneath you?

Behind those SMILES !!

Behind those smiles I can see the PAIN Long stretched, unyeilding Loneliness writ over the face Heartbreaks, personal losses I don't know what it is!  Somehow, I feel connected Maybe because I had my shares too I was miserable, alone No shoulder to turn to No hand to console No one to share Many sleepless nights  Wet pillows in remembrance Of my shattered dreams Of hope, of love, of desires Of broken hearts I overcame everything ALONE I won't let it happen again! To anyone who is near and dear To my friends and foes I am there forever The shoulder, the hand The one who genuinely care Remember me Talk to me I indeed Care Your friend FOREVER!!

The Lost Cuckoo!!

Spring has arrived!! I await your arrival My long lost beloved My soul and I... Waiting to embrace you Longing your presence My mornings and my afternoons In solitude and melancholy I lay on my bed...  Awaiting your arrival Just once come back my beloved Satiate my soul Refresh my sweet memories Of times spent in your company Oh my Cuckoo!!  My long lost Cuckoo!! I am desperate to meet you Will you sing again? For me... Just once...your song The song of the cuckoo!!  Oh bird!! Where art thou?  Lost in the concrete jungle Not a tree to perch...  Nor a nest to search Will you ever come back? To revive my memories  With your melodies!!

Golden Beads

The wind blows slowly and steadily As she sits looking at the greenery The golden sun also smiles Her ripen grains look like golden beads Swaying and smiling at her Yes, she wants them around her neck Just like a bejewelled  bride She is coy, she is happy She has fresh dreams Dreams of the golden beads!! Beads which winds her dreams Yes, the beads which would fill… But, what is this? Where are my golden beads? Alas! My golden beads She wails, she curses… You mighty river…I hate you Why did you gulp my golden beads? How could you wash away my dreams? My dreams of the golden beads!!

THE WAIL!!

She shuddered! She woke up, she was sweating profusely. No, she did not have a fever. Slowly, she joined her hands and began praying. Yes, she is alive today and all thanks to the Almighty-the creator and the Savior.   Arunima Basumataree was wondering what exactly went wrong, that she was facing the wrath of her own brethren in the village. The villagers with whom she shared a very cordial relation sharing their best and worst times, how could they forget her contribution in changing the face of the village? How could they forget that her endearing efforts have brought electricity and water in the once neglected trouble torn village Phulguri as it lay 250 kms away from Sonitpur. How could the villagers just blindly ignore her contributions and just listen to the dictates of that devilish Babu Ram Narzary?   Arunima’s eyes welled up as she sat thinking of the golden days of her courtship with her love and husband Maheshwar who died a few years ago of Malaria. Her thoughts flowed to

Bordoichila

Bordoichila, Hey Bordoichila Can you hear me Bordoichila?  It's April already! When will you come?  Can't you see the despair Your mother is so sad As she wails and sends dust stroms  The bleeding heart weeps.. Day in and day out Awaiting your arrival The barren trees stand in vain Devoid of colours and in pain Not only your mother, even I am annoyed Do you know the dust on the tables  They require my attention daily Oh! When would you come to tame them? I know you love to come in a flush As if there is so much to rush What is the hush hush? Tell me with a quick blush.. I await your arrival As you are the reviver... A new beginning, new era Awaits your arrival Bordoichila, I am waiting. When are you coming?
